Whats your general opinion on the following : the evolution of dancehall and soca over the last 20-30 years. Idont know maybe its just me but i used to and still enjoy pre year 2000 dance hall i feel as if it grew in popularity back then think of it as everyone every shade of color was into it and well now cant say when is the last i listened to the current type of dance hall. and to me i feel when i look around well it has lost in popularity. well at least here in my neck of the woods. soca on the other hand once it was only an island type of music where you had to have been west indian or of west indian decent to know about it and enjoy it because it was hardly accessible. its know growing so fast that everyone seems to know about it and it gets played a lot more because it has become more mainstream and somewhat but not totally at that level yet something like pop music. All and all i like the direction were its going i just hope it doesnt mature to fast and begins to degrade. Discuss.
Agree with you on the dancehall, however there have been a few songs that have big hits. Soca has been trying to appeal to the international music scene. I also like the direction its heading. Will have to see where it goes...
