Computer Won't Read External Harddrive

    Yeah yeah, its running normally, perfect. Computer just isn't reading it, and it doesn't show up in "My Computer". People have been saying to update the drivers, but i dont know if I have to update the drivers for the computer or for the external harddrive.

    Yo just stop stressin it could even be because its a different opperating system that cant read old formats because it has a better way of storing files.

    Well everytime an OS is updated the format becomes Better and more compact like for example ( say a psp phat was the file the psp slim would be a more compact and better version ) get it . If the HDD works on another computer save your stuff to a few DVDs then format it and use it on your computer ( i dont recomend this its a head ache ) my last external HDD was being a B^&** and didnt want to work well that was until my little brother droped it :D

    Wow, this is very interesting. After a few days, I now plugged it in and it works.

    i have had the same problem happen with one of my 500gb WD externals(the WD external hds are shit), and wasn't so lucky as you were. that's usually a sign that its starting to fail, just back up your stuff on that external before its too late.
