    Personally I would do a back up of your system and then reformat from scratch. Sometimes there are a lot of broken links which slow it down quite a bit, Defrag is also handy. I do agree with other posters, however, you must have a virus scan program.

    check the temp files in the current user account and delete them
    click on
    start > run
    type
    %temp%
    it will open the temp folder.
    select all the files and delete them.

    it the system does not allow to delete the files then restart your computer and do the same...

    open your system dir
    then delete "dllcashe" folder...

    by deleting the temp files computer will become faster...

    For single click solution use TuneUP Utilities 2012...works well most of the times.

    i use ccleaner professional, avg 2013 internet security, and malware bytes. does it right every time, ive had this computer for more then 3 years and it feels faster then when i first got it. also i did google something like 'how to optimize windows 7' which gave me lots of great tips that added to my computer speed.

    if you're willing to spend a few bucks on upgrades, get more ram and an SSD. just installed an ssd into mine and my laptop has been running crazy fast. getting an SSD also makes half those posts up there redundant as SSDs require no defragmenting and "searching for files." they're instant.

    You can always format it but you need an iso you gotta download imma put the link below but you need a key these are legit iso from a branch part of microsoft i hear if you call up windows and telll them you are installing windows they might let you but it depends if your key is still valid or it expired to redo it over...unless you dual boot with ubuntu
